Frequently Asked Questions

What is your leadership style?

I'm inspired by the following quote:

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea."

-- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I think the tasks to get there will make make sense and motivation to persevere will be present when this happens. I believe in the importance of sharing a vision of where the team is headed and clearly articulate what part each team member plays in that vision. I set yearly goals and objectives with team players, reviewing and following up throughout the year. I know the effort involved in achieving milestones and take time to celebrate success with them along the way. I think rewards are an important part of a team structure and ensure team players are rewarded for valuable contributions that make a difference to the company. As my mission statement suggests, my aim is to help each player become the best they can be in our efforts to grow the business and will help provide training, coaching, etc. to individuals along the way.

What is your morning routine?

I begin my morning at 5 a.m. and head to the gym for a long run. During those runs I'll listen to blogs, audio books, or the news, depending on the mood I'm in at the time. I'll eat a nice breakfast afterwards to feed by body while reading books that feed my soul. I'll then take a quick peak at emails and industry news to get me updated on the latest trends. As soon as I arrive at the office I review my action plan with my top 3 priorities for the day that I planned out the evening prior and make any necessary adjustments before starting my work day.

What do you do in your spare time?

When not working, I like to pursue my interests in website development, running, photography, camping, and spending time with my family.

Where do you get your ideas?

A lot of my ideas come while in the shower, traveling, or running. I've come to realize the value of carrying a small notebook and pen to capture those thoughts as quickly as possible before I forget them. Many times I'll contemplate resolutions to hard problems, sleeping on them over night and come up with answers the following morning. I also listen to many podcasts or audio books, and read articles that may spark ideas that are totally unrelated to the subject matter, but to another issue I've pondered in the past. I also notice more ideas come to me when I get plenty of sleep.

What is the craziest thing you ever did?

During my college days a few of my friends and I got together and decided we should try skydiving. We took the required lessons, learning what to do in multiple scenarios, and how to roll when we land. The day of the dive we put on our gear, including the parachute pack, helmet, etc. They synched down the pack so tight we could not stand up straight. Soon the plane took off and before we knew it, the jump coach opened the door and said it was time. The whole thing never seemed real until that moment when I could see the ground below moving with nothing between it and me, except for the floor of the plane. The moment of our true commitment arrived. I was second to jump so at least I could watch my friend take the lead. Then it was my turn. I picked myself off the floor of the plane, then grabbed a hold of the wing strut, sliding my hands to the middle of the wing before looking back at the coach for the final command to let go. Those first few seconds in free fall seemed to be a blur. As soon as the tether line that was attached to the plane pulled my parachute, it was free sailing. It was so quiet and peaceful floating with the clouds, almost like I was in a giant vacuum with no sound. As I saw the ground coming at me fast I prepared for impact. I hit the ground hard. It felt like I just jumped off a skyscraper as my legs buckled beneath me and felt something give way in my ankle. I could not get up or walk. One of the assistants carried me to my car and my friends took be to the medical clinic for x-rays. My ankle was confirmed very broken and I hobbled on crutches for several weeks. It was a blast and something I can check off the bucket list, but will never do again.
